The Top SaaS Tools for Boosting Business Growth

SaaS growth can be much more difficult than you may think, despite the success stories. It is a fact that building great software requires a lot of dedication and time, especially when you are bootstrapping.

Hubstaff's growth from a startup to one the most popular time-tracking solutions of today was difficult. There were many questions about where to go next and how to expand our startup.

This is in addition to the fact Hubstaff has three desktop apps that need to be supported. We must remain laser-focused on releasing new features every second.

We use third-party apps whenever possible.

We are very product-focused and don't want to waste our time building tools that don't exist.

Although this may seem obvious, almost all products you attempt to integrate don't work due to unforeseen limitations.

Additionally, marketing and development are often at odds when you build your own tools.

Marketing wants to see many reports but development doesn’t have the time or resources to create them. Marketing wants lots of images but development doesn’t want to store them in the code base. This list could go on. We try to use third party apps for all these reasons and more.

These six SaaS tools have been instrumental in Hubstaff's growth.

Hubstaff uses more than 20 SaaS products. We tried hundreds of different products and this is what we came up with. Below you will find six of the most useful SaaS tools that helped us to grow our business.

Hubstaff Tasks

A good project management system is vital for any business. It greatly assists in the early stages of growth. Hubstaff Tasks is our own agile project management tool.

It is used to track project updates, assign tasks to team members, and to collaborate on a daily basis. It is the main platform where all of our remote teams communicate to each other and get work done.

Hubstaff Tasks features a Kanban interface that makes it easy to navigate large projects. Each project has multiple columns, which are filled with Kanban cards representing tasks.

Each Kanban card has a variety information about the task. Each Kanban card contains a description of the task and the task's followers. This allows everyone to stay informed. Hubstaff Tasks allows you to add labels for better organization. You can create checklists, add labels, tag colleagues in comments, and notify them.

To focus on the most critical tasks, we use Hubstaff Tasks Agile Sprints feature. This helps us avoid missing deadlines and complete tasks quickly.

Hubstaff Tasks can be used in conjunction with the Hubstaff time tracker to help us achieve high productivity.

After the projects have been set up in Hubstaff Tasks we can track time using the time tracking app. This allows us to focus on the work at hand and not constantly check if we are making progress.

Visual Website Optimizer allows us to quickly test and optimize our pages. Hubstaff's key marketing goal is to improve every page for higher conversions.

Here's an example of a multivariate test we did on a staffing page. The image below shows that 7 converts at 23.33%, compared to the control's 9.35%. We are clearly on the right track. Let's find out why we have doubled the page's response rate.
